Fish Lake Regional Park is located at 14900 Bass Lake Road and is just minutes away from Uneek Design Build & Remodel in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The park offers visitors many recreational activities in a wooded, lakeside setting. People that love the water can have fun swimming, boating, and ice fishing on Fish Lake. There are also picnic areas and a rental pavilion available for family or group outings. The best time to visit Fish Lake is in the fall when the blazing maples reflect their grandeur on the lake, creating a beautiful setting to enjoy your outdoor activities. During the winter, Fish Lake offers turf trails for snowshoeing and hiking. Dog lovers can take pleasure in year-round exercise with paved trails and a completely fenced-in, off-leash dog area.
Family Fun at Fish Lake Regional Park
One of the best ways to enjoy the park is to hit the beach that is open all summer long. You can have fun playing a game of sand volleyball or take in the view with family and friends by hiking along one of the paved trails that wind along the lake through beautiful, wooded areas. Yard games are also a fun activity to enjoy at the lake. The beach pavilion has bocce ball, croquet, horseshoes, and volleyball equipment available for rent, or you can bring your own equipment if you prefer.
Fishing in the Park
Fish Lake has been designated as a kids pond by the Minnesota DNR as part of its Fishing in the Neighborhood program. This makes it an ideal place for children or beginners to learn how to fish. There are a variety of fish species in the lake, including bluegill, black crappie, largemouth bass, bullhead, and northern pike. The fishing pier can be found along the walking trails. A fishing license is necessary for those 16 years and older in all Three Rivers Parks.
Wildlife at Fish Lake
Fish Lake is part of the Three Rivers Park District’s Wood Duck Management Program where the wood duck boxes are maintained and monitored by volunteers. The perfect time to see swans, wood ducks, and other water fowl is during the fall and spring.
